VIGENJC VICE

Vigenjc Vice is the only fully preserved blacksmiths’ workshop for the manual forging of nails. It served its original purpose until the first half of the 20th century, while today it serves as a museum. Vigenjc is a local name for special workshops in which nails were forged in Kropa and Kamna Gorica between the 16th and 20th centuries. A vigenjc was not only a workshop, but also a second home for blacksmith families. A virtual visit to a vigenjc provides an opportunity for you to experience the life and work of a blacksmith’s family. You can find out more about the history of iron forging at the Iron Forging Museum.
