JOSIPINA HOČEVAR MONUMENT

The fountain was erected in 1908 and is also a monument to the Radovljica benefactress Josipina Hočevar. Josipina was born in the house that is today Linhart Square 10 in Radovljica. She spent most of her life in Krško, but often remembered her birthplace by providing gifts. She helped many of Radovljica’s children gain basic education – both financially and materially. The monument in Linhart Square was erected during her lifetime. It was made by the master stonecutter Janez Vurnik from Radovljica, and his apprentice Jožef Pavlin.
